Last week, American singer and superstar Madonna announced that she had finally completed the process of adopting two twin girls from Malawi.
Madonna, who is no stranger to Malawi, posted to her Instagram page to revel in her joy over the adoption.
“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family,” said Madonna. “I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible.”
She then went on to ask the media to please respect the family’s privacy as the twins prepare for this huge transition to a new life.
The announcement of Madonna’s adoption of the 11-year-old twins came just two weeks after a spokesperson for the superstar denied that she was going through any adoption proceedings.
Adoption documents stated that Madonna had been involved in Malawi for some time raising money for charities.
Recently, Madonna raised $7.5 million for her foundation that plans to fund the construction of a pediatric surgery ward at The Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi. The facility is set to open next year.
