Liberty Party’s Presidential Candidate Charles Walker Brumskine expresses gratitude to student supporters
WEST AFRICA –Liberty Party’s political leader and its 2017’s presidential candidate Charles Walker Brumskine is fast grabbing the support of Liberian students across the country.
In the past weeks, students from various schools throughout the country have been lending their unequivocal and massive support to the movement to elect Brumskine as the next president of Liberia.
Globe Afrique has learned that the students are giving their support to the Liberty Party’s presidential candidate because he has a platform that supports investment in education, from pre-K through college as well as vocational education and apprenticeship.
Since the start of the presidential campaign, more Liberian students remain active in the process. Sources say support for education and health care appeals to students and parents alike.
As Liberia moves closer to its October 10, 2017 presidential election, two powerful voting blocs stand ready to propel any candidate to the finish line. Those groups are the youth population and women.
Brumskine’s evolving support from students across the country signals that he is winning a vast embrace from the youth population, age 18 and over. In Nimba County, Bong County, Grand Bassa County as well as Margibi County and the capital, Monrovia, youth and women support is crucial.
Liberia, a country of 4.5 million people, has over 50 percent of its overall population as youth between ages of 18 – 30. Winning a vast support from that demographic could prepare any candidate as the possible victor of the October polls.
A supporter of Team Brumskine in the United States told Globe Afrique that Brumskine is well positioned to capture the youth and women vote in the upcoming presidential election.
Sources say Brumskine’s platform speaks more to women issues and education for Liberian youth and children than any other candidate in the race.
Liberian women over the years have been a powerful force in the politics as well as peace and national unity processes in Liberia.
During the country’s 14 years civil conflict, women played a pivotal role in ending the conflict and restoring peace and democracy to the nation. However, while few women took the credit internationally, the most powerful and action-oriented women in the country are the market women. Currently, many of these self-employed market women are the breadwinners for their households due to high unemployment in the country.

Any candidate who speaks to women and youth issues stands a better chance of scoring a major victory. Liberian political commentators say Brumskine has been doing just that. His daughter, a lawyer, and wife, have taken women issues very seriously.
Mr. Phil Suah, the chairman of Liberty Party USA said the party and the Brumskine Campaign will provide more details on their candidate’s engagement with Liberian students, youth groups and market women.
As the story develops, Globe Afrique will provide more details on Brumskine’s engagement.
