OUAGADOUGOU (Globe Afrique) — Burkina Faso armed forces on Wednesday repealed attacks from heavily armed men close to the country’s border with Mali, according to sources in the capital Ouagadougou.
Per local media sources, no casualties were reported in both sides.
The armed men were repulsed after they shot at regular forces in the Konkuikoro village in a region prone to jihadist attacks.
This occurs as the West African country is gearing up for a national forum on homeland security in Ouagadougou this coming September.
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has faced a series of jihadist attacks, especially in the northern region where it shares a long border with Mali and Niger, two African states that face terrorists’ events.
