Concerned Citizens United to Bring Our Money Back (COCUBOMB)

Capitol Hill, Monrovia, Republic of Liberia

September 22, 2018

As the nation painfully mourns the mysterious disappearance of L$16 billion (US$106 million) of the people’s money by a coalition of crooks, the leadership, and membership of COCUBOMB hereby call on all patriotic Liberians to turn out en masse on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the US Embassy near Monrovia on Benson Street at 7:00am prompt for a mass peaceful assembly which is in accordance with Article 17 of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia.

COCUMBOMB will officially present a petition statement to the International Community through the US Embassy and the European Union. Whether rain or shine, we are calling on all students, youths, marketers, yana boys, petit traders, slum-dwellers, motorcyclists, taxi-drivers, civil society actors, members of the disabled community, teachers, civil servants, nurses, doctors, other professionals, religious bodies, traditional groups, journalists, trade and worker unions, rural dwellers, entertainers, and all well-meaning Liberians to come out as we demand the full restitution of this missing L$16 billion and the prosecution of all those linked to this horrific corruption scandal that has injured our nation’s image.

COCUMBOMB reassures the Liberian people, International Partners, and the Liberia National Police that this mass gathering of patriotic Liberians shall be peaceful and executed in accordance with the Rule of Law. We, therefore, call on anyone having ‘sinister motive’ as it has been perceived by some pro-Government elements to refrain now because we will have a team of monitors responsible for internal security.

The police can be assured of our unhindered commitment to upholding Liberia’s fragile peace. On the other hand, we caution the police not to evoke and/or provoke any form of violence as THE PEOPLE turn out en masse on Monday.  All we want is our money back. BRING BACK OUR MONEY – THIS IS THE POPULAR CALL OF THE LIBERIAN PEOPLE FROM MONTSERRADO TO MARYLAND. Enough is enough. This sad journey of systemic corruption since 1847 MUST end and end now!

Let us make this sacrifice for Liberia and our unborn generations. Thanks for standing up for Liberia and your children’s future. We must put an end to this cartel of mass looting. The people of West Point, Clara Town, New Kru Town, Soniwen, Doe Community and Rural Slums/Ghettos deserve far better than living in extreme poverty and misery. This SAD NARRATIVE has to END.

PLEASE WEAR BLACK AND WHITE AND PRINT ON YOUR T-SHIRTS, POSTERS AND BANNERS: BRING BACK OUR MONEY. Monday, September 24, 2018, is THE DAY. Come out en masse as we peacefully assemble at US Embassy. You can call these numbers for more information: 0776572334 / 0886750556 / 0776569458 / 0777580052 / 0777091701.
