On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, Jake Menges stepped down from his role as a Director at Greenberg Traurig, to run a super political action committee geared towards supporting President Trump’s 2020 reelection bid.
Keep Florida Great, the new super PAC will focus on Florida, a well-known election hotbed. Voters will remember Florida after the 36-day marathon voting face-off in 2000 between Al Gore and Bush, which was eventually decided by the supreme court along partisan lines. In 2016, Florida was also the site of elections chaos between Trump and Hillary Clinton.
In 2016, Mr. Menges successfully guided the Great America PAC, a Trump super PAC in New York state. Today, it appears, he is looking to repeat his success in Florida.
In April, according to documents filed with the Department of Justice, Mr. Menges was hired by the government of Liberia to provide business development and government affairs services. Records show Mr. Menges was instrumental in guiding the DED extension for thousands of Liberians living in the United States.
Mr. Menges, who is believed to be well-connected in Washington, was also a senior advisor to HUD Secretary Ben Carson’s 2016 presidential campaign.
