Nigerian authorities pursue the murderers

LAGOS—Authorities in Nigeria on Sunday have confirmed that four police detectives were killed in a subsequent ambush by gunmen in the country’s northwestern state of Kaduna, according to local police.

A police spokesperson said the detectives were shot dead in a gunfight with the alleged gunmen who ambushed the special team of police detectives in Jankassa village of Rigassa neighborhood in the state on Saturday, said Sabo Yakubu, a police senior spokesman.

Yakubu told reporters that no arrest has so far been made after the killings but more investigations are ongoing to bring the killers to justice.

He said authorities have ordered a team of reinforcement in the area to pursue the alleged and arrest the gunmen.
