BRUSSELL– 18 old years old Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen is positioned to secure a starting place to secure a starting place in Wolfsburg’s first team. Victor said he is willing to wait to see that happen.
Osimhen joined the German side during his splendid performance at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup at which time he scored two goals against Utrecht, a Dutch team.
“I’m still new in European football and know that coming to Wolfsburg, I need time,” the 18-year-old said.
Osimhen has been a regular substitute on the bench for the team.
“I’ve learned a lot, and I need to learn more. I remain confident that Wolfsburg is still the right place for my career.”
Osimhen was the top scorer when Nigeria sealed a fifth FIFA Under-17 World Cup title in 2015. Then several big names soccer teams vied for him but he rejected all the big European clubs, including the renowned English side Arsenal only to join the 2009 German champions.
Martin Schmidt, Wolfsburg coach said he is pleased with the enthusiasm and continence of the Nigerian soccer star in training in his first Bundesliga season.
“He is training very well and has scored many goals,” he said. “He is the most effective runner and I hope to reward him,” he concluded.
